I often think of healing crystals as something that attracts more women than men but when I look at our customers, over half of our customers are men! That came as somewhat of a surprise to me but no wonder - stones can be very manly and virile. In fact, many stones are used for that very purpose such as smoky quartz, obsidian, tourmaline, amber, jasper, agate, and so many more!
Even if your father is virile enough, healing crystals make a great gift for Dad on Father's Day. Whether you give him a set of pocket stones, a pyramid, or manly necklace, most fathers will appreciate a gift from Mother Earth.
I did a quick poll of some of our friends and male customers who like healing crystals and stones. The top three favorite stones among the men were hematite, pyrite, and shungite.
Hematite
Men like the look and feel of hematite. This is wonderful for a man as a palm stone or worry stone, that they can keep in their pocket. It is also super as a Bear Claw necklace or some other form of jewelry including bracelets for men.
Hematite's chakra is the Root Chakra. Hematite can be used as a psychic energy center; it helps energy enter and leave the body. It is useful for anchoring and grounding one's thoughts, emotions, and spirits. Hematite provides insights into one's self and others. And of course, it is the go to stone for grounding and keeping one back here on Earth (helpful during astral travel!).
This is a good stone for a person who is being bombarded with negative energy. Hematite is very helpful for deflecting negativity away from the person who wears it. It helps alleviate depression and gloomy thinking.
Physically, hematite is good for relieving stress and tension.
Pyrite
Many men told me that they like Pyrite for the shiny look and also the cube shape. This is a pocket stone also, especially as a small cube - it is easy to touch and the cube is a fun shape!
Pyrite's chakra is the Root Chakra and the Soul Star Chakra.
Pyrite is helpful in shielding one from negative energy. It is quite useful as a mediation tool . The ancient Inca's even used it for that purpose!
Mentally, it assists protecting one during open and honest communication, providing emotional and physical protection. If a decision needs to be made, carry a piece of Pyrite to help come to the final decision. Pyrite helps a person turn thought into action; it clears the aura of negative energy so one can concentrate and make the hard decisions that have to be made.
Physically, it increases physical stamina. It is useful in drawing pain from the body, reducing swelling, inflammation, and reducing fevers.
Pyrite is a fabulous stone for attracting wealth ormanifesting needed energies for a situation.
Shungite
Men love Shungite! We have so many men customers buying Shungite - almost 90% of our shungite customers are men. Shungite is a great stone, very hard - I don't have to worry about it cracking or breaking during the shipping process. And it is available in so many shapes - tumbled stones, rough stones, palm stones, pyramids, spheres, squares, pendants, bracelets, you name it! Of course, it is very black and men love black but it is also very durable and smooth.
Shungite's chakras are the Throat, Third Eye, and the Crown.
It is said that Shungite can cleanse water and then infuse the water with tremendous healing vibration - many claim it works wonders on heart disease, skin diseases, arthritis, and allergies. It is believed to restore vigor and vitality, rejuvenates skin and hair. Many people use infused in water as a wash for skin and hair - said to encourage regrowth of thinning hair.
Of course, all claims about medical benefits or attracting wealth are just that - claims and not factual or proven by scientific study. Find a stone for Dad and enjoy the day!

Cinnabar in Quartz - Stone of the Teacher - Keeps One Organized and Focused
Cinnabar is the Stone of the Teacher - organized, clear, disciplined mind. Cinnabar works well with instructors of all types helping to keep the mind sharp and focused. It is helpful to keep the teacher organized and teaching in the right manner, at the right time for the students. It directs the teacher to keep the material lively and interesting.
This stone also helps the teacher LEARN from the student because learning is never a one way street. It helps to keep the teacher grounded, and to remind the teacher that at one time THEY were the ones being taught. It facilitates praise and encouragement from the instructor to the pupil, and lets the teacher see that worthy praise is a part of the learning process.
Cinnabar is beneficial is balancing the Root Chakra.
Cinnabar is also known as Native Vermillion, a type of red mercury sulphide, the common ore of mercury. It was named from the Persian word "zinjifrah" which meant lost or dragon's blood.
It is rarely seen as it is here in Quartz.
Mercury is a toxic material, and thus, Cinnabar should be handled with care and never taken internally.

Sulphur Quartz Crystals Repel Chupacabras and Extraterrestrials
Sulphur Quartz healing crystal is a stone with either sulphur mixed within the quartz or with inclusions of sulphur. In any event, it will be a green or yellow colored stone and should have a sulphur odor when broken or crushed.
Sulphur Quartz has the great attribute for inspiring devotion in loved ones. It also historically, has been used by aboriginal people to ward off unexplainable beasts. It must work because so many people used it! Native Americans used to get rid of Big Foot, Tibetans kept handy to repel the Yeti Monster, people in Mexico used to keep Chupacabras from getting their animals. In more modern times, it has been suggested as a use to avoid visitations by Extra-terrestrials. It is supposed to help keep E.T.s (and possible the Government) from getting control of one's mind.
Whether you believe in all that or not, wouldn't hurt to keep one handy. Available here for purchase ~~http://tinyurl.com/sulphurQ

Spiral of Life Begins Again with Vernal Equinox
The Vernal Equinox or Spring Equinox was yesterday, March 20. With it we see Mother Earth changing and growing; spring is the time of rebirth and rejuvenation. It reminds me of a spiral of life that is ever expanding outward, embracing creativity and freedom enabling all of us to be who we were meant to be.
Now is the time for each of us to stretch ourselves and find new beginnings and new outlets for our creativity, expressing love for God's Creation and all beings.
The flow of the seasons is felt in our inner life and outer life as we move in and expand our spiral of life - the spiral starts out tight in the beginning and gradually loosens as we expand our creative selves into becoming all that our Creator intended for us to be. Every step we take is an invitation to grow. Life changes, nothing stays the same. We have to embrace the change, and strike out on new paths when necessary.
Our ancient ancestors knew that Spring was the time for all things to experience growth and rebirth. They realized that the long, hard winter gave way to new crops which meant food and animals would give birth. Our ancestors honored this time with rituals and celebrations. We, too, can embrace this celebration, honoring Spring and Easter, as we transform into new beings.
Please be encouraged at this time to:
Dream big
Express gratitude
Demonstrate creativity
Embrace wholeness - be the whole person you were meant to be
Allow perfect peace to enter your being
Discover what you were created to be by our Divine Creator -
And then Be that Person

Healing Crystals for Colds and Flus
Flu season is almost over hopefully but still we are getting several inquiries on how to use healing crystals for colds and flus.
Colds and flu are caused by bacterial and viral agents that agent one's system. But if it could really be traced by the source, we would find that the individual had allowed the energy system to be depleted or get run down, allowing for illness to seize the opportunity to make its way into the energetic body.
Healing crystals help by allowing the body to relax and heal itself as well as re-align the energy disruption, and speed up healing on the physical level.
Be sure to cleanse and clear the stones frequently when you have a cold or flu.
Healing Crystals to Use with Colds and Flu:
Choose a stone from the list below to carry on the body until the symptoms cease -
Flu Symptoms - Fluorite, Moss Agate, Labradorite, Leopardskin Jasper
Colds - Larimar, Labradorite, Fluorite, Moss Agate, Jet, Carnelian, Ametrine, Clear Quartz, Leopardskin Jasper
Coughs - Amber, Ametrine, Aquamarine, Topaz
Hold the crystal(s) and make a healing affirmation. For example, say "My body is healed. I have energy and peace." Visualize a white light entering the body and clearing out all areas of sickness, replacing with the white light.
Place the crystals under the pillow or bed at night while you sleep.
Use a Healing Grid:
Lay down for 30 - 45 minutes daily with this healing grid until the symptoms are alleviated -
Base Chakra - Hematite
Sacral Chakra - Red Jasper
Solar Plexus - Yellow Jasper or Amber
Heart - Emerald or Rose Quartz
Throat Chakra - Blue Agate
Third Eye - Lapiz
Crown Chakra - Clear Quartz
Outside of feet and hands -Place a clear Quartz point on the outside of each foot pointing up or down (does not matter, just make sure all points are pointing the same direction).
Outside of head (beside ears) - Place a clear Quartz point on the outside of each ear pointing up or down.
Crystal Elixir:
An elixir can be made of the chosen stones to give a boost, sip as needed. Gargling with the elixir is help, mix with salt water to sooth a sore throat.
Warm Bath:
A warm bath can help using some of the above healing crystals mixed with Hematite or Rose Quartz. Place stones directly in the bath water, placing a Blue Agate or Lapis on the Crown Chakra for added relaxation and healing.
Steam inhalation can be very infective for colds. Add a few drops of lavender, tea tree oil, or eucalyptus oil to very hot water. Add 10 drops of your Crystal Elixir and place in a glass bowl (not metal). Create a tent effect with a towel or cloth over your head and bowl - inhale the steam for 15 minutes. If you do not have an elixir made up, put your stones in the hot water.

Handling Stress at Work with Crystal Energy
So often we have stress at work from our bosses, co-workers, and the public, as a result of a small mistake blown out of proportion. Typically, it isn't the BIG mistakes that we make that result in stress but is the small faux pas that seems to get us into trouble. Of course, immediately you should apologize or try to make it right with the person that you have wronged or offended if possible. Try to figure out the nature of the offense and why the person took it so badly and then make corrections in your own behavior.
Before stress occurs in the workplace, set up a harmonious environment for yourself and your co-workers. If you only have a cubicle or even only a locker, keep your healing crystals available and nearby to promote harmony and cooperation.
Green Aventurine and Citrine are good to strengthen your own self-confidence when it seems like everyone is against you or that you are making lots of mistakes. A necklace could be worn, or pocket stone carried. I recommend putting a large stone on your desk or somewhere where others can see it, too.
Rose Quartz, Rhodonite, and Rhodocrosite will promote harmony as well as create an environment of unconditional love. This is particularly needed when a workplace has many divergent types of personalities and those personalities clash. A grid around the office or desk with those stones can work wonders.
And lastly, Calcite provides motivation and facilitates change. A large cluster of Calcite in a prominent location would be beneficial if change is what is needed in the workplace, whether it is your own attitude that needs to be changed or the attitudes/work habits of others.
Repeating positive affirmations about work while at work can create a positive attitude - fake it til you make it is the key here. Here are some of the positive affirmations I have compiled that I use for this purpose:

My work is fulfilling.
I do not settle for meaningless and boring work.
My co-workers are supportive of my efforts.
I get along well with my co-workers.
I work at a steady pace to achieve my goals.
I control my anger at work.
I make correct decisions at work.
My co-workers and supervisor want me to be a success.
I can change my work when I so desire.
I enjoy my co-workers.
I love my co-workers and wish them the best in their endeavors.
I act in a profession manner.
If you are able, soothing music can be played. Music that is designated as "Reiki Music" is especially soothing and comforting.
Remember - you may have to fake it for awhile until it all turns around for you. Act as though everything is fine and act as if everyone loves you and only wants the best for you.
Hang in there -

Don't Forget the Quartzsite Rock Shows in January 2014
Everyone around here gets so excited about the Tucson Rock and Gem Shows that sometimes we forget about the Quartzsite shows - right out our back door! I have always found lots of great rocks at the Quartzsite shows but the trick is to get there EARLY. Parking is a pain so go early to get a good spot.
Quartzsite is a small town, population about 2,000 people, in western Arizona. it is about 20 miles east of the Colorado River on I-10. Its been around over a hundred years. In 1856, an early settler named Charles Tyson settled there after finding a source of water, he built a fort there to protect his water supply and it became known as Fort Tyson. Fort Tyson became a popular stopover on the Ehrenburg - Prescott stagecoach route. The area became known as Tyson's Wells. Unfortunately, the stage stopped running and the town was abandoned.
Quartzsite started having rock and gem shows in the 1960s. Back then people camped out, and it was wild and wooly. Today, there are winter visitors showing up in multi-million dollar RVs and campers. The town attracts over one million visitors every winter. There is a veritable smorgasboard of over 2,000 vendors selling rocks, gems, minerals, fossils, jewelry, jewelry findings, and every else under the sun to create the world's largest open-air flea market and swap meet.
This year's shows start EARLY - January 1 for one of the shows. Like I said, get there early - before the shows open to get a good parking spot. Drink coffee, eat doughnuts, plan your strategy while you wait. Some of the shows open early so start a little early.
Before you go in - make a list to keep you on track - what you need to buy, what you would like to buy, and maybe a couple of frivolous items.
Remember to bring:
List of what you need to buy
Cart for wheeling your purchases back to the car
Cash money and credit cards
Copy of Sales Tax Permit if you want to buy wholesale
Pencil and pad for remembering what you saw where and at what price
Folding stool or chair (stick in cart) - there are not always places to sit when you get tired
Hat - sometimes it is hot
Wear layers to take off if you need to
Bottle of water and high energy snacks
Fisherman's vest with lost of pockets to stash money, chap stick, water, business cards
Smart Phone or Ipad
Backpack to store those clothing layers that you took off
